The statistics are by quarter. There are two sets of data that are broken down by Army component and then the total. Each set of data contains the information for the Army, then your MACOM and then each BAC within your MACOM. Statistics by Specimens Tested: This data is based on the actual number of specimens tested at both Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratories during the time period. The number of specimens tested and the number of specimens positive are broken down by drug class and then the Amphetamine, Barbiturate and Opiate classes are broken down into their specific drugs; the total within the subclasses indicates the actual number of specimens positive for that class. Example:
In the above data there were 890 specimens positive for at least one of the amphetamine sub-classes; notice that since some specimens were positive for multiple drugs so if you add up the previous 5 columns it will exceed the total column. Statistics by Soldiers Tested: This data is based on the number of individual soldiers tested. If a soldier provided 3 specimens during the quarter then that soldier will still only count as 1 soldier. If a soldier tested positive 2 times and negative once during the quarter then that soldier will count as 1 positive. Example:
In the above data 337,039 different soldiers provided a specimen during this time frame, some of them may have provided multiple times, and 746 of these soldiers tested positive at least once for one or more of the amphetamine drugs. If a soldier tested positive for MDA and MDMA then he/she would be listed in both categories but only once in the total. |
